Despite getting off to a losing start in the district, Moore coach Scott Myers isn’t quite worried.

Why?

Because there were plenty of other teams that lost unexpectedly, leaving Moore with a chance to stay in the mix.

“Obviously, it’s wide open,” Myers said. “ … We’ve got to find a way to pick up a couple of those that people don’t expect us to.”

Midwest City and Lawton Eisenhower both pick up district-opening victories, but Yukon and Edmond Memorial both lost to open the district. Both losses were the first of the season as well.

Moore gets another chance to earn its first win of the season Friday against Edmond Memorial before traveling to Midwest City.

“I think they’ll crank back up,” Myers said. “I don’t think it was a deal that we weren’t crank or didn’t play hard. We just got beat by a good football team.”
