Moore Lions (0-5) at Midwest City (5-0)
When: 7:30 p.m. Friday
Where: Jim Darnell Stadium, MWC
Moore (0-5)
Why the Lions can win: The Lions continue to get better and their banner defense has been able to keep them in ball games up until the fourth quarter. Last week against Edmond Memorial, the Lions were in a one-score game until the final 7 minutes.
Quote: “They’ll be as fast a football team as we’ve played. That’s the name of the game right now.” — Moore coach Scott Myers.
Midwest City (5-0) (W – Del City, W – Enid, W – Santa Fe, W – Yukon, W – Putnam North)
Why the Bombers can win: Because every week it feels like we learn more and more about the toughness of this group of Bombers. Nothing makes them flinch. And each week QB Greg Austin is getting better and better.
Justin’s key matchup: Moore’s offense vs. Midwest City’s defense. The Lions have to get going on offense at some point if they are going to win this season. The move of Vova Razyrvin from quarterback to wide receiver will give them help on the outside, but will it be enough?
Boneman’s key matchup: MWC start. For once, will the Bombers get rolling early? They’ve made it ‘interesting’ for their fans this season. This should be the game where MWC is clicking from the word go.
Justin’s pick: Midwest City 45, Moore 7. The Moore defense might keep the Lions in the game in the first half, but Midwest City’s offense will be just too much and the Lions’ offense will be too little.
