Norman-Southmoore: Quoteboard...
By Justin Hite
With such a big game, there was plenty to talk about. Here are just a few of some of the things players and coaches said in the lead up to Friday night:
Southmoore coach Chris Jensen on facing the Norman defense … “We’ve been pretty successful on offense up to this point. It’s another challenge. Once again, you always want to see where you stand up, where you measure up. Getting to go against a defense that has had the success that they’ve had is exciting for our program.”
Norman coach Greg Nation on the running back battle … “Southmoore knows that (Andrew) Long is their bell cow and ours is over there wearing No. 28 (Donovan Roberts).”
Norman linebacker Greg Offenburger on Class 6A-3 district play … “We are going to go out there and get a ‘W’ every week and try to win as many district games as possible to make it to those playoffs this year.”
Southmoore defensive end Jermaine Tucker about facing Norman … “When we go up against them it’s going to set the pace of playoffs and teams on down the line that we are going to have to play.”
Norman coach Greg Nation on Tigers’ linebacker Greg Offenburger … “When that cat is playing hard, he’s a go-daddy. He can take a game and turn it his way.”
Norman coach Greg Nation on his team’s surprising 5-0 start … “You want to see some good football, come out and watch us.”
