FMQ (on Saturday): Westmoore D stops Del City...
By Justin Hite
Welcome to the Friday Morning Quarterback….Today’s edition: Del City vs. Westmoore
Westmoore 30, Del City 6
I was standing on the field last night, listening to coach Billy Langford’s post-game speech, and I realized something. This was a huge win for Westmoore. The Jaguars are now 3-0 in their district and have a chance to go 4-0. Not only that. After winning three games last season, they’ve already won four and have a chance to ensure a .500 record only 7 games in to the season.
But what might be the biggest sign of good things to come is the way the Jaguars are winning.
Westmoore breakdown: Westmoore wins on defense and special teams. Most high school teams win games with a spectacular offense, and there’s nothing wrong with that. But there’s something to be said when your offense manages only 62 yards of offense in the first half and 268 in the entire game.
That 268 doesn’t sound nearly as good when four plays netted 202 yards. But back to the bright spots.
