There’ll be a level of familiarity on the field Thursday night when Moore faces Norman North. In fact, there could be a few heads turned by how much similarity there is.

Most of that comes from Moore assistant Greg Linstead. For three years, Linstead was the inside linebacker coach for Norman North. Now, he is on the Lions’ staff and brought some of the Norman North playbook along with him.

Moore coach Scott Myers said that both the process and the alignment of the two defenses are very similar and he wouldn’t be surprised if some of the audibles are the same. It comes down to a common ground between all the coaches though, not just one assistant switching sides.

“Their staff and our staff are good friends,” Myers said. “We have 7-on-7 in the summer together. We exchange a lot of ideas.”

One idea in particular where the two staffs differ is offensively. Norman North runs a power running game out of the I-formation, while Moore runs more of a spread. Then again, maybe they don’t differ on the idea, just the types of players on the roster.

“If I had (Norman North’s running backs) I’d be in an I (formation) and doing the same thing they are doing,” Myers said.
