Welcome to the Saturday (Afternoon) Quarterback….Today’s edition: Edmond North vs. Westmoore

Edmond North 38, Westmoore 15

Last week, after Westmoore’s victory against Del City, Jaguars’ coach Billy Langford talked about how is offense hadn’t hurt his team yet. He talked about how his offense had let his defense win games and done just enough. His first words after the loss to Edmond North: “Maybe it’s my own fault for sticking my foot in my mouth.”

Westmoore breakdown: A lot of times people will go back and forth on whether one team lost, or the other won. Let’s be very clear. Westmoore lost on Friday night. That shouldn’t take anything away from Edmond North though. The Huskies can only do what’s in front of them. It helps that Westmoore left little in the way.

Westmoore turned the ball over 6 times. 6 turnovers, and that doesn’t count the one fumble that the Jaguars’ got back or the few passes that should have been picked off. It doesn’t take into account the blocked punt in the second half that Edmond North score on. Before this game, Westmoore had gotten off to the best start possible in 6A-2. The Jaguars were undefeated and had 45 points to their name. They didn’t look that way on Friday night. We’ll take this as a blip on the radar and not a trend of things to come. It should be enough to take notice though.

Up next: Westmoore hosts Putnam City looking to re-right the ship and stay in playoff contention next Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Moore.
