Ada (4-3) at Carl Albert (5-2)
When
: 7:30 p.m. Thursday
Where: Jim Harris Field, CA

Ada
Why the Cougars can win:
Because after a blowout loss to Ardmore, Ada has actually fared pretty well. The other two defeats are against Guthrie and McAlester, a combined 13-1. Ada has done a great job of winning the games it’s supposed to. Can it win one it’s not supposed to?

Carl Albert (L- Booker T.; W – Ardmore; W – Duncan; W- Western Heights; W – El Reno; W – Southeast; L – Guthrie)
Why the Titans can win: Because arguably no team is happier about playing on a short week than Gary Rose’s club. This group is anxious to get back out there after last week. The nerves shouldn’t be an issue this week and the focus will definitely be there.

Key matchup: Taylor Hawkins vs. Ada defense. Though I expect Kenton Whittington to get a lot more than 11 carries in this game, think this is huge for the psyche of Hawkins. He needs to rebound, and the team needs to see he can be the leader the rest of the way.

The pick: Carl Albert 31, Ada 12. At the friendly confines of Harris Field, the Death Squad defense allows the offense to relax with some big turnovers.

Boneman’s Carl Albert prediction record: 6-1.
