Edmond North: Trying to find groove with Jeff Tanner...

Just when it feels like the corner is turned, a setback happens and it’s back to square one. OK, not square one, but the Edmond North boys basketball team took a step backward Saturday in a loss to Norman.
And coach Jeff Tanner wasn’t afraid to admit it.
“We have to get tired of having these results,” Tanner said. “Norman played like a team that was tired of losing. Our energy and our focus has to be there every game.”
For two days, the Huskies looked good. The effort was there, at least. Part of the problem is even though the Huskies started the year with five seniors in the starting lineup, that didn’t necessarily mean those kids had a lot of varsity experience.
I like what I saw from center Brandon Rolfes-Lopez. Tanner said Rolfes-Lopez has come a long way since the summer, and it’s more mental with him and in fact, it’s a lot more mental with a lot of the Huskies.
It may be a funky shot, but it works for Ed Baker. And more importantly, he was able to consistently find his way to the hole or drain a long trey.
I think the X Factor is Christian Peterson. I know him from football, but I think Peterson could really develop into something special. He carries himself around differently. It’s that leadership and swagger this team is going to need.
