Edmond Santa Fe's Josh Richardson to visit Tennessee, Penn State

Edmond Santa Fe basketball standout Josh Richardson is preparing for a busy weekend that will include visits to two college campuses as he tries to narrow down his potential choices.

Richardson, a 6-foot-5 combo guard, will visit Tennessee on Friday, then head to Penn State for Saturday and Sunday. Both programs have offered Richardson a scholarship, along with TCU and Georgia Tech, two campuses he has already visited.

Oklahoma coaches met with Richardson last week, but did not extend an offer. It appears that the new Sooner coaching staff of head coach Lon Kruger has other needs it must focus its recruiting attention on, primarily point guards and big men.

Prior to becoming Tennessee’s new head coach last month, Cuonzo Martin had been recruiting Richardson hard at Missouri State, first showing interest in him when Richardson was only a sophomore. After taking the Tennessee job, he was quick to extend an offer to the Edmond Santa Fe senior.

Richardson is the top-rated recruit in the state in the 2011 class according to He ranks No. 121 among prospects nationally and No. 37 among shooting guards.

The spring signing period for basketball opens Wednesday and runs through May 18.
