Kyle Lacy's HR leads Santa Fe to upset of Broken Arrow

If it feels like we’ve become the beat writers from Edmond Santa Fe, I apologize. Well, kind of. The school has been on some kind of run here in the last month.

From the girls winning the state basketball championship to Gunnar Nixon’s continued ‘wow’  success to Josh Richardson signing with Tennessee to now this: Santa Fe baseball winning at top-ranked Broken Arrow on Saturday night.

After seeing a 4-0 lead evaporate, it was Kyle Lacy who got to play hero. Lacy hit a solo home run in the top of the seventh off Broken Arrow stud Archie Bradley to give the third-ranked Wolves a 6-5 win. And though I might be speaking out of turn, also the biggest win of the season.

In the bottom of the seventh, it was Kyle Shaw closing the door by striking out the side. Between Clayton Blackburn, Lacy and Shaw, the Wolves struck out 15 BA batters.

For Lacy, it was a little redemption as it was Lacy who let a 5-2 lead slip away in the bottom of the sixth. In baseball, you always get that second chance. Always a shot to go from goat to hero and give credit to Lacy for mentally staying in the game.
