There was a lot of pressure on Mustang star David Glidden entering this season. After verbally committing to Oklahoma State to play football in February, a lot was expected.
He delivered time and time again. The honors continued for the Broncos standout as Glidden has been named the Gatorade Oklahoma Football Player of the Year.
Glidden made an impact on both sides of the ball for Mustang and becomes the first Bronco to earn the honor in the three decades of the award.
Glidden had 58 catches for 1,157 yards and 15 touchdowns on offense. But also made big plays on defense. He recorded six interceptions, including taking four back for touchdowns. He also returned four kicks for scores in leading the Broncos to another playoff berth.
At 5-foot-9, Glidden has been compared to former Heritage Hall standout Wes Welker, who is now with the New England Patriots. Welker also earned the Gatorade honor for the 1999-2000 season.
