A defensive performance for the ages leads to Hennessey’s first state championship. The Eagles (12-3) were dominant on both sides of the ball to earn a 14-0 victory against Davis in the Class 2A final.

Wow is really all I can say. It was every bit the hard-hitting, physical battle that I (and most others) thought it would be. Big hits all over the place.

Hennessey had touchdown runs by Ivan Moreno on the first drive and Trey Leu added one in the fourth quarter. The defense did the rest.

Who said Davis 26-24? It would have taken a near miracle for anybody to score 26 points on this Eagle defense on this day. A heck of an effort.

I was down on the sidelines so look for a video on NewsOK with Derrick Luetjen, Ivan Moreno and the rest of the Eagles celebrating.

My boy Scott Wright is working on the masterpiece right now.
