Edmond North coach Jeremy Dombek is pleased so far with his team’s practice effort, and he attributes the pace to experience.
“We’re definitely ahead of where we’ve been the past few years,” Dombek said. “That’s what you expect when you have a veteran team returning. I love our pace of practice.”
The Huskies return eight starters on defense and six on offense, including senior running back Jarion Tudman, who rushed for 1,299 yards and nine touchdowns a year ago.
Also back is running back Jared Benway, a senior who was expected to carry the load for the Huskies last year before an early leg injury that cost him his entire junior year.
Dombek said he will really know where his team stands when practice in pads starts Friday.
“You’re so limited in what you can do and how you can evaluate (without pads),” Dombek said, “but we’ll get through (Thursday) and get the pads on Friday and the opening game will be here before we know it.”
The Huskies open on Thursday, September 1 at Southmoore. The team’s first scrimmage is Friday, Aug. 19 at Moore.
