Tulsa Washington and Bethany were among the teams on the fortunate side of some football district changes made for the 2012-13 seasons by the OSSAA board of directors Wednesday morning.

Tulsa Washington, which is moving to Class 6A, was originally placed in a district that included Jenks, Broken Arrow, Muskogee and west-side teams Putnam City and Westmoore. But the Hornets were switched with Bixby into the district with Tulsa Union, Owasso and Stillwater.

In Class 5A, Noble was moved to an east district, swapping with Southeast.

In Class 3A, Bethany was moved out of a loaded district that includes Heritage Hall, Kingfisher, Newcastle, John Marshall, Star Spencer and Centennial. Bethel will take the Bronchos’ spot, while Bethany moves into a district with Chandler, Perkins-Tryon and Seminole.

In 2A, Washington and Dibble were swapped, putting Dibble in with several metro-area teams like Millwood and Oklahoma Christian.

In Class A, Watonga and Apache were switched as well.

No changes were made by the board in Class 4A, B or C.

All of these changes were recommended and approved by the board.
