Edmond Memorial is putting a stronger emphasis on its passing game in 2011 with Ry Huff at quarterback.

Last season, the Bulldogs’ quarterback was Kameron Doolittle, whose explosiveness came from his ability to run.

“This year, Ry’s strength is his arm,” Edmond Memorial coach Justin Merideth said. “Ry is a good runner, but his explosiveness comes from his arm. Our offensive is flexible; we’re just tweaking to put a little more emphasis on the pass game.”

Huff played some at quarterback last year when Doolittle was injured, but now the senior takes over full time.

“I’m more of a throwing quarterback,” Huff said. “Last year, we kept it pretty simple with fast stuff and play action. Now we’re opening it up and putting in some more elaborate plays.”

Huff’s top targets, he said, will be senior Bryce Robinson and juniors Devin Cossman and Sam Kreutzer.
