Dual State Wrestling: Class 3A-4A semifinals
All semifinal duals started at the 132-pound weight class. The finals will begin at 6 p.m.
CLASS 4A
TUTTLE 61, BLACKWELL 9
Tuttle advanced to the Class 4A finals for a sixth straight season in dominant fashion. The route was on early for the Tigers as they opened the dual with three pins from Gunner Laffoon at 132, Nick Richards at 138, and Dakota Head at 145.
VINITA 33, WAGONER 27
Dual matchups don’t get much closer than this one. Eight of the 14 matches came down to a decision, and both teams picked up seven victories each. Vinita needed a 4-1 decision from Tyler Binns in the final match at 126 pounds to clinch the win and advance to the finals.
CLASS 3A
PERRY 42, VIAN 27
Vian nearly pulled off a shocking upset of Perry, but key victories for the Maroons from Jake Biggs at 138 and David Thomas at 160 would prove to be the difference. Biggs turned a close match into a third period pin to give Perry six team points. Three matches later, Thomas scored a takedown with four seconds remaining to earn a one point victory.
NEWKIRK 43, BERRYHILL 24
Trailing 12-3 after the first three matches, Newkirk finally captured the momentum with a pin from Jacob Vap at 152 pounds. The Tigers won eight of the next nine matches to defeat Berryhill and move on to the 3A finals.
