Bethany coach Reagan Roof is turning to young players at a variety of key positions this season, starting with his quarterback, sophomore Kyle Duke.

More of a dual-threat QB than the Bronchos have had the last few years, Duke showed all of his skills to pile up 401 all-purpose yards in Friday’s 38-36 win over Pauls Valley.

He rushed 26 times for 167 yards and three touchdowns, while going 22-of-31 through the air for 234 yards and a touchdown. He added an interception and four tackles from his safety position on defense.

Bethany (1-1) goes on the road for the second straight week for Washington’s home opener on Friday. The Warriors (1-1) are coming off a 28-14 loss at Purcell.
