Three Points and a Pick: Prime Prep at Millwood

For a game that wasn’t even on the schedule a month ago, there’s a ton of buzz around Prime Prep’s visit to Millwood tonight. When you have NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders involved, that’ll happen, though.

Sanders brings his 0-2 team to town coming off a 48-30 loss to Bishop Dunne. Millwood, on the other hand, has knocked off two of its top rivals, Star Spencer and Douglass, to start the season.

Three Points

1. Who is Winning? In case you missed it, Sanders said his team’s mascot is Winning, for what that’s worth. But regardless, it had to be tough for Millwood to scout these guys much. With only two games behind them, Prime Prep is a significant unknown at this point. Millwood’s ability to react to the unexpected will be a major determining factor in the game.

2. Larry or no Larry? The Falcons’ top linebacker and power running back, Larry Lambeth, hasn’t played since injuring his foot in the first game of the season. He could return tonight, or coach Tony Henry could hold him out another week or two. Millwood has another non-district game next week, so it’s most important to have Lambeth healthy for all six district games and beyond. That said, Lambeth’s strong running style would be a big benefit if the weather gets nasty tonight.
