Connecticut coach suspended for 51-0 win

Here’s a story out of Norwich, Conn., where the coach of Norwich Free Academy was suspended after his team beat Stamford 51-0 last week.

Connecticut has a rule that automatically has a Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference panel review any win by 50 points or more. The school acted before the CIAC panel reviewed Saturday’s win.

Would a rule like this be a good one here? I think I’d rather see a mercy rule at the 11-man levels that regulates a running clock when the score reaches a certain threshold.
