Fan poll: Vote for the OKC-area Football Player of the Week
Clutch performances were rampant throughout high school football in the final week of the regular season, and fans can vote for the one they thought was the best.
The weekly Oklahoma City-area Player of the Week fan poll is live now for fans to cast their votes.
Pick one of the five selections from the poll below, or write in your own candidate in the comments section, where you can tell us why your choice deserves Player of the Week honors.
The Oklahoman staff will choose its Player of the Week for a feature story in Tuesday’s paper, but voting in the fan poll will continue until 4 p.m. Tuesday. The results of the poll will appear in Wednesday’s Oklahoman.
Here are the candidates:
Holden Baker, Mount St. Mary: Rushed 12 times for 225 yards and added a pick-six and eight tackles on defense to send the Rockets out on a high note with a 47-25 win over Little Axe.
Tre Edwards, Southmoore: Threw for 301 yards and three touchdowns to earn a playoff spot for the SaberCats in a 44-14 win over Mustang.
Jesse Gregory, Tuttle: Rushed for 229 yards and four touchdowns as Tuttle earned a home playoff berth and handed Blanchard its first loss.
John Jacobs, Shawnee: Accounted for seven touchdowns and 405 total yards, rushing for 201 with five TDs, and throwing for 204 and two scores to clinch a playoff bid for the Wolves.
Caden Sander, Deer Creek: Came up with two crucial interceptions in the fourth quarter to seal Deer Creek’s district championship with a 25-12 win at McGuinness.
