Let’s roll out The Oklahoman’s inaugural television blog by looking at how
Hollywood is preparing for the 14th Annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards.
It’s being done up big-time, as beaucoups of celebrities (Tom Cruise, Russell Crowe and Angelina Jolie, to name a few) will be attending the picket-free ceremony airing live at 8 p.m. Sunday on TNT and TBS.
Even though the Writers Guild of America is still on strike, it is letting its members write for the SAG awards and will not stage protests outside the
Shrine
Exposition
Center.
So what’s being done for the big occasion? According to a press release:
- A total of 16,476.145 square feet of red carpet is being rolled out in the arrivals area.
- The interior Shrine entrance is being draped with 5,500 feet of gold fabric.
- 3,300 gold-rimmed glasses, 2,200 pieces of gold cutlery and 1,100 gold-rimmed fluted white china chargers will be placed on 86 rectangular dinner tables.
- 1,100 ivory silk seat cushions will be placed on Gold Chiavari chairs for the guests.
- Chef Alan Jackson will prepare the menu using 1,200 quail eggs and jumbo capers, 600 tomatoes, 225 lbs. of lamb, 200 lbs. of chicken and tuna, 150 lbs. of potatoes and flour, 100 lbs. of filo dough, 75 lbs. of almonds, red bell peppers, squash and zucchini, 50 lbs. of yellow wax beans, 30 lbs. of dried fig, 25 lbs. of carrots and celery, 24 lbs. of lettuce, 10 lbs. of basil, six gallons of extra virgin olive oil, eight gallons of kalamata olives and five lbs. of bakers yeast.
- 204 bottles of Dry Creek Vineyard’s Limited Edition 2003 Endeavor Dry Creek Valley Cabernet Sauvignon will be served. It was selected from the winery’s private reserve in honor of the Screen Actors Guild’s 75th Anniversary.
Oklahoma actress Jeanne Tripplehorn (born in
Tulsa) will get to partake in the festivities. She was asked to present an award, although she should have been nominated for one for her role as first wife Barb Henrickson on the HBO series “Big Love.”
