Thunder guard Kevin Martin talked with The Oklahoman about his return to the postseason and being matched up against his old team.

With all the attention swirling around James Harden, how have you been able to remain so hidden when you were the other half of the same (Oct. 27) trade?

Martin: “It's been great. I've just been focused on basketball and know the task at hand. We have big goals here and we don't get too sidetracked in this locker room, so we've just been handling it fine.”

What are your thoughts when you think back to your 2006 playoff series against San Antonio, which was your only previous postseason appearance?

“You look at it and you just feel blessed to be in this kind of opportunity. You never take anything for granted. I've played on some pretty good teams that just weren't good enough to sneak in. With this team, of course, we're good enough to do more than sneak in. (Since my last postseason) you just had to work every summer, fight through the grind and get to the point where you are today.”

Were you nervous Sunday night because it had been so long?

(Smiling) “It was just good to get those seven years of cobwebs off.”

What's it like to play against a friend like Cisco (former Sacramento teammate Francisco Garcia)?

“I've got a lot of friends in this playoff series. A lot of them texted me before the opening game the other night.”

How odd is it to be matched up against your old team in the first round?

“I just knew it was meant to be. We all knew it was meant to be back in October. We felt like we matched up pretty well. We really didn't care who we played.”
