“Rogue”: DIRECTV orders its first original series

DIRECTV has ordered 10 episodes of the original suspense-drama “Rogue,” starring Thandie Newton (“Mission Impossible 2″, “Crash”) from independent studio Entertainment One Television (eOne) and Greenroom Entertainment, according to a news release.

“Rogue” is the first original drama series commissioned by DIRECTV exclusively for its customers.

Production is scheduled to start in August, with the show slated for debut next summer on DIRECTV’s Audience Network.

DIRECTV has previously provided a home and new creative life to Emmy-winning series such as “Damages” and “Friday Night Lights,” and exclusive, first-run series like “Underbelly,” “The Slap” and the upcoming series “Hit & Miss.”
