In commemoration of “Bizarre Foods America’s” 100th episode next month, the one-hour retrospective special “Bizarre Foods Celebrates 100″ will debut at 7 p.m. Monday, July 9 on Travel Channel.

“Bizarre Foods America” host Andrew Zimmern and his team look back over six years and 100 episodes and share their favorite memories, behind-the-scenes bloopers and travel mishaps, along with the foods and memorable characters that have given the series its unique brand of flavor, according to a news release.

More information on the special, provided by Travel Channel, is as follows:

Interviews, show clips and behind-the-scenes footage will take fans through the wild ride that began with Zimmern eating a beating frog heart in Japan.

“Bizarre Foods Celebrates 100” will also explore how the series has made viewers more curious about other cultures and more willing to sample new foods, culminating with a challenge for some lucky contest winners.

“Bizarre Foods” fans were given the opportunity to appear in the series through the Network’s “Star on Bizarre” contest held in January.

Travel Channel viewers were urged, via TravelChannel.com and its social media sites, to submit a video through Facebook describing a food that they consider bizarre – but would be willing to try with Zimmern.
