Bill Geddie wins Lifetime Achievement Award at the 39th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards
Bill Geddie, executive producer of “The View” and co-producer of “The Barbara Walters Specials” was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 39th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards June 23 for his contributions in a 30-plus year career in the television industry as a writer, producer and director.
In information from a story in the Daytime Emmy Awards program, Geddie, from San Antonio, Texas, talks about getting his start in television at KOCO-TV here in Oklahoma City by buffing the floors at the station.
He had his communications degree from the University of Texas at Austin and was looking for a foot in the door and found it at KOCO-TV because he’d discovered that… “When you buffed the floors… they let you run camera for the local news,” Geddie is quoted in the story.
Along with his successful 25-year partnership with Walters, “The View” has also received the 2003 Daytime Emmy Award for “Outstanding Talk Show” and has won numerous Daytime Emmy Award nominations, including 12 for Outstanding Talk Show.
