The “Girls” are back and they’re continuing in their candid, comical and poignant ways.
As the second season of the Emmy-winning HBO comedy begins, Hannah (series creator Lena Dunham) is dating someone new, but is taking care of Adam (Adam Driver) during his accident recovery, and Jessa (Jemima Kirke) returns from her honeymoon with Thomas-John (Chris O’Dowd).
Marnie (Allison Williams) feels that she and Hannah have lost the closeness in their friendship as she struggles with job issues and Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet) and Ray (Alex Karpovsky) work on a tentative relationship.
Also, Hannah and her new roommate Elijah (Andrew Rannells) are off to a positive start, but complications soon arise.
And complications are a big reason why this show is so absorbing, as it demonstrates the good, the bad and the ugly in all kinds of relationships and presents its characters in many complex ways.
Season 2 of “Girls” premieres at 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13 on HBO.
