“American Idol”: Tulsa resident in Top 40 semifinals
Tulsa resident Zoanette Johnson is among the “American Idol” Top 40 semifinalists who will be heading to Las Vegas to perform on the stage of Cirque du Soleil’s Beatles “LOVE” Theatre at The Mirage.
The Las Vegas move is a new twist in the singing competition, during which the Top 40 will again be split by gender, according to a news release.
In episodes airing from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, Thursday, Feb. 21, Wednesday, Feb. 27 and Thursday, Feb. 28, 10 semifinalists will perform each night. Girls will be featured Wednesdays and guys on Thursdays.
Each night, the judges will have to decide which five will stay and which five will be sent home. At the end of the first stage of the semifinals, only 20 contestants will remain.
