Season 2 of the Cinemax action drama series “Strike Back” will make its world premiere for fans at San Diego’s Comic-Con 2012 preceding its August debut on the network.
The series centers on stealth counterterrorism unit Section 20 as its members span the globe to eliminate potential threats.
Stars Philip Winchester, Sullivan Stapleton and new cast member Rhona Mitra will attend events at the annual fan festival including an official Comic-Con panel and the premiere of two brand new episodes at a special screening, according to a news release.
Information on the Comic-Con events featuring “Strike Back” and credits for the show’s stars, provided by Cinemax, are as follows:

Giving fans a peek into the making of the series, the panel will feature exclusive clips of
the new season that was shot on location in South Africa. Moderated by HitFix TV critic
Alan Sepinwall, the cast will share insights about the series and their characters, and will
take questions from fans. There will also be giveaways of exclusive merchandise.

The cast will attend a special screening for fans and answer questions afterwards. The
initial two episodes of the new season will screen for the first time. The screening is
open to attendees with 2012 Comic-Con badges and seating is on a first come, first
Philip Winchester starred in the title role of the miniseries “Crusoe,” played Frank Stanton in
“Fringe” and Leontes in “Camelot.”
Sullivan Stapleton will soon start production as the lead in “300: Battle for Artemisia” and can be seen in the September film “Gangster Squad.” He also starred in Oscar–nominated “Animal Kingdom.”
Rhona Mitra starred in “Underworld: Rise of the Lycans,” “SGU Stargate Universe,” “Doomsday,” “Shooter,” “The Number 23,” “Nip/Tuck,” “Boston Legal” and “The Gates.”
Season One of “Strike Back,” which premiered in Aug. 2011, will be available on Cinemax Select (DVD, BluRay, digital download) on Aug. 7 by HBO Home Entertainment and will feature cast and crew commentaries and bonus footage.
Season Two debuts at 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17 on Cinemax, with the first two episodes airing back-to-back. Additional returning cast members include Rashan Stone and Michelle Lukes.
Also in information provided by Cinemax, the second season was shot on location in South Africa for storyline locations including Kenya, Somalia, Mozambique, Algeria, Zimbabwe, England and South Africa itself. The production works with a team of consultants who are in the field of counterterrorism and the military, contributing to the realistic tone of the show. In addition, the cast endured nearly a month of military training and tactics to prepare for the shoot.
