Emmy Award-winning actor Sean Hayes will guest star in a multi-episode arc on NBC’s “Smash.”

Hayes will play Terrence Falls, a comedic television and film star who is making his Broadway debut in the musical “Liaisons,” based on the novel “Les Liaisons Dangereuses.”  Due to a series of comic circumstances, he becomes a major thorn in the side for Ivy Lynn (Megan Hilty) and other characters, according to a news release.

Hayes will also make a guest appearance this fall in a multi-episode arc on NBC’s “Up All Night,” playing Ava’s (Maya Rudolph) former accompanist.

The actor’s accolades include, along with the Emmy win for his portrayal of Jack McFarland on NBC’s “Will & Grace,” four Screen Actors Guild Awards, seven Golden Globe nominations and a Tony nomination last year for Best Actor in a Musical after making his Broadway debut in “Promises, Promises” with Oklahoma native Kristin Chenoweth.
