“See Dad Run” is no “Happy Days”

“Happy Days” alum Scott Baio returns to the sitcom world in Nick at Nite’s “See Dad Run,” making its regular season premiere at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14.

The press release for the series touts the fact that “See Dad Run” is shot on the same soundstage as “Happy Days,” but this new comedy pales in comparison to the classic show.

“See Dad Run” centers on actor David Hobbs (Baio) becoming a stay-at-home father after a 10-year run starring as America’s favorite TV dad while his wife (Alanna Ubach) returns to her acting career.

Basically, every cliché you’ve seen before about a dad having to take over the responsibility of running a family for the first time is covered in the first couple of episodes, with the typical tired bodily function jokes included.

If you’re a Scott Baio fan, you’re better off catching “Happy Days” reruns.
