The new Cinemax spy drama “Hunted,” written and produced by Frank Spotnitz (“The X-Files”) and starring Melissa George (“In Treatment”), makes its debut at 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19.

George plays Sam Hunter, an operative for global intelligence and espionage firm Byzantium who is almost killed in a situation that may have been set up by one of  her co-workers.

Hunter returns to Byzantium after recovering from the attempt on her life and takes on another assignment while trying to figure out who was behind it.

Adam Rayner, Stephen Dillane, Stephen Campbell More, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbage, Morven Christie, Lex Shrapnel, Indira Varma, Dhaffer L’Abidine and Patrick Malahide are also among the cast of “Hunted.”

The first few episodes of this series failed to pique my interest to watch any further.

Although George is decent in her role, the pace of the show is too slow and there aren’t enough intriguing elements to the story to get me involved in it.

I just didn’t find “Hunted” successful in its mission to be entertaining.
