Warmer weather is ahead Thursday in central Oklahoma with plenty of sunshine, the National Weather Service reports.

There is a chance for showers and thunderstorms Friday.

The Oklahoma City forecast is as follows:

Thursday: Patchy frost before 8 a.m. Otherwise mostly sunny with a high near 69. Light and variable wind becoming south, southeast 8 to 13 mph in the morning.

Thursday night: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy with a low around 51. South, southeast wind 7 to 17 mph with gusts as high as 24 mph.

Friday: Showers and thunderstorms likely after 1 p.m. Mostly cloudy with a high near 60. South, southeast wind 6 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Friday night: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy with a low around 52. Calm wind becoming north 5 to 7 mph after midnight.

Saturday: Mostly sunny with a high near 71. North, northeast wind 7 to 10 mph.

Saturday night Mostly clear with a low around 49.

Sunday: Mostly sunny with a high near 78.

Sunday night: Partly cloudy with a low around 56.

Monday: Mostly sunny with a high near 79.

Monday night: Partly cloudy with a low around 58.

Tuesday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny with a high near 76.

Tuesday night: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy with a low around 58.

Wednesday: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny with a high near 70.
