A man accused of pushing his wife's face into a pan of hot grease was charged Thursday in Oklahoma County District Court with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Manuel Nunez, 40, of Oklahoma City, told his wife she was a terrible cook. He then grabbed her neck from behind and forced her face into a pan of hot grease.

The woman told police she was cooking fried chicken when her husband assaulted her April 7, the affidavit states.

The grease burned the woman's nose and left a small blister, police reported.
