Lessons learned about president and Congress

Published: April 28, 2013

U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Muskogee, offered to work with Congress to stop or reduce the effects of the sequester. President Obama rejected any effort, saying (according to Coburn) that he wants the sequester “to be painful, I'm going to teach you guys a lesson.” Is this what we want to hear from the “leader” of our country? This is surely part of the great “change” he promised! We'll all change to do his bidding or else! If this were a Third World country led by a dictator you would expect it, but not in America.

It's time for people to wake up and stop these programs and the people promoting them. Not one business I've ever heard of will give any employee a guaranteed full retirement after only a short time of employment. You don't get full pay when you retire from anything. Yet all members of Congress do and they constantly vote themselves pay raises and benefits. These aren't children with rich parents funding their foolish escapades. These are the leaders of the country and they're spending money they don't have — mine and yours. Look at where you are now and where you were just a few years ago. If you're better off, you must be in Congress.
