College baseball: Texas Tech avoids sweep with 9-3 victory over OU

Seven different players had two hits for the Red Raiders, who never trailed in the game.

NORMAN — Texas Tech avoided a sweep Sunday by whipping No. 11-ranked Oklahoma 9-3 before 1,774 fans in Big 12 baseball at Mitchell Park.

The Red Raiders (20-24 overall, 6-12 Big 12) never trailed while getting two hits each from seven different players. Devon Conley and Todd Ritchie both had two RBIs for Texas Tech, which owned a 9-1 lead entering the bottom half of the ninth inning. The Red Raiders roughed up OU starter Ethan Carnes for five runs on six hits and a walk in just 41/3 innings.

OU (33-11, 10-5) had two hits from Anthony Hermelyn, Kolby Carpenter and Jack Mayfield.

The Sooners next play 6:30 p.m. Tuesday night at Dallas Baptist.
