Edmond Memorial assistant coach Dan Kurtenbach was named the head coach at Weatherford earlier this week.

Kurtenbach has been an assistant coach for the Bulldogs for the last four seasons. He was the head coach at Casady in 2007 and 2008. Before that, he held assistant coaching jobs at Broken Arrow, Shawnee and Midwest City.

Kurtenbach replaces Mickey Seifried, who took the job as the technology director of Weatherford Public Schools.

Seifried went 30-26 in five seasons as the head coach at Weatherford, including a 12-1 season in 2009. The Eagles went 7-5 in 2012.

Before becoming the head coach, Seifried spent eight seasons as an assistant at the school.
