Reaction to tax cut bill

House Bill 2032 would cut personal income tax starting Jan. 1, 2015, saving Oklahomans $88 in the first year on average. Citizens shared their thoughts on the bill and how they might spend the extra money.

Money is money. I could see us using it on a dinner out or something fun. But more than likely it would just help with the bills. If it harmed education I don't want it. I have a niece that is a schoolteacher and I'd rather have more teachers than the little bit of money. Everybody wants a tax cut and I think it would be a good thing in some ways. But maybe it's not the right time for it. If I had a choice between the money and some of those other things, I'd choose education.”

Monty Hazlip, 56, from Stillwater, works at the Stillwater Milling Co.

They are not going to just give up that money? What are they cutting? I'd like some extra spending money but not if it's going to cost something valuable in return.”

Cody Mooreland, 50, Oklahoma City, works for a natural gas company

I think having a few extra bucks would be great; maybe some new clothes for the kids or dinner out with my husband. It might not seem like a lot but every little bit helps.”

Heather Wheeler, 30, Edmond, stay-at-home mom

I guess every little bit counts but that just doesn't seem like much. I could fill up a tank of gas for that much and then what? It sounds like the rich are just getting richer.”
