On Sunday, May 12th, in celebration of Buddha’s 3,040th birthday, Buddha Mind Monastery will hold the Buddha Bathing Ceremony(10:30am～11:30am) followed by a Vegetarian BBQ & Fundraising Bazaar (12:00 – 2:00). The Bazaar will consist of Vegetarian BBQ and international food stands, and lots of educational themed Buddhist activities and games. Books of tickets will be used in instead of cash donations and will be available at the information desk.
In the "Bathing the Buddha" Ceremony, Buddhist disciples usually setting up an altar centered a statue of Baby Buddha with flower arrangements and showing their great respect to Buddha by bathing the little Buddha statue with fragrant water. Bathing the Buddha also symbolizes the purification of our body and mind by learning from Buddha’s compassion and wisdom.
