1.  BuzzFeed

By: The blog is maintained by many writers. Peggy Wang posted this one. She is the DIY editor at Buzzfeed. I like shopping and bubblegum. Ask me about my UK hardcore band.

What blog is about – Looks like a bit of everything on fun and cool do-it-yourself things.

Featured post – 24 Kids’ Science Experiments That Adults Can Enjoy, Too -  Turn Gummy bears into giant gummy bears.

This site is a definite keeper! I am so excited to try. The Ivory soap blown up looks very cool. Some of these are so easy to do that I think even my girls and I could have fun doing them. Plus they are scientific. We have not done so well with making things and experiments in the past. My oldest daughter with Aspergers frequently decides during these times to either throw things across the room or destroy anything we make in the process. This was when she was younger, and I will be honest, I have avoided anything related since. I do buy pre-cut cookies and let her put those on a pan. That is how we make cookies – takes all of 2 minutes. Such quality time. Ha-ha. But this post has inspired me to try again, I think! I love it. – Darla Lindauer

2. Co. EXIST

By: One of many writers on this blog. This post is by Ben Schiller – New York-based staff writer for Fast Company’s Fast Co.Exist & contributor to the FT, Yale e360, etc. Author of upcoming Adventures in MBA-World.

What blog is about – World-changing ideas and innovation

Featured post – A Crazy Spherical Home for Off-The-Grid Living - The Ekinoid is designed to help you live in parts of the world where you might not think it would be so easy to set up a house–for when things get so bad in the cities that you just have to move out on your own.

From looking at me, you might think that I am a certified city girl, but I am far from that in my mind. I would go for this, but I would like to have some neighbors. I think this looks so sci-fi, how could I not like it? It reminds me of some things I have seen on a few futuristic movies. Count me in! I wonder how well they will stand up to the Oklahoma tornadoes, earthquakes, straight line winds, hail, ice storms, dust storms, droughts, fires and flooding. I have never been a “normal” person. Even my father commented on my Facebook page last week that I was weird. I take it as a compliment, so I think that is why I want this house so badly! I really want like four of them put together. It would be like a playground for an adult!Darla Lindauer

3. Soul Food

By: Lindsay – “By trade, I am a Christian Spiritual Director and Soul Care Provider. I’m also just a gal who is passionate about food.  I love food and I love the creative process.  I enjoy the adventure of trying new recipes, creating new things and then getting to bless others with what I create — it brings great joy to my soul.”

What blog is about – Recipes and food

Featured post – Watermelon, arugula, feta & balsamic salad – “She brought a big salad bowl filled with organic arugula, chunks of fresh watermelon, crumbled feta cheese, that was all tossed with a balsamic reduction.”

Well, the name of the blog drew me in. I was expecting more southern food. But she actually has quite a variety of food options in her recipes. I decided to use this post for my mom and sisters. They like this kind of thing. I, on the other hand, do not. I am not sure how this came about, but I am an iceberg lettuce girl. Sometimes I wonder, do people eat these other kinds of lettuce because someone who was seen as important said it was good, then it just kept growing and everyone just says they like it because they want to fit in? I know my mother and sisters seem to enjoy this kind of salad, but in my opinion, the watermelon should be eaten by hand in the backyard, the feta cheese needs to be on a gyro, and balsamic vinegar needs to be on a plate with oil with a side of Italian bread for dipping … and some weed killer for the arugula. I seem to be in the minority these days. – Darla Lindauer

4. Hip Homeschool Moms

By: This blog has multiple contributors. This post is by Heidi – “I am a homeschooling mom to 3, with one beginning high school in less than a year. I enjoy reading, photography and blogging. My handiwork such as knitting and crocheting are both works in progress.”

What blog is about – Everything homeschool

Featured post – Financial Literacy & Money Sense for Kids – “Truth be told it is never too early to start demonstrating and teaching your children how to manage their money.”

Have you ever read something that you know to be great information, but you just dread it? Well, this post does that to me. See, I am OCD. Allowance requires the child to help with tasks to be done around the house. If you are not familiar with OCD, then let me enlighten you. I clean a lot and I clean the way I like it cleaned. That’s it. Nowhere in there is there any room for help from my girls. I drive myself mad sometimes cleaning. I have tried so many times to let the girls help me, but I found myself pointing out everything they did wrong. And, then, the times I kept my mouth shut, I waited until they were done, gave them praise and started doing it again. I want the very best for my girls, so I need to suck it up and let them learn. Other than being a reminder for me, I have two things to say: 1. I was ripped off. I did not get a dollar for each year I was born; 2. My mother always told me that cleaning my room and helping with everyday household chores is being part of the family. Getting paid comes from doing something above and beyond. Darla Lindauer

5. T-SHIRT TALK

By: Jaelma – “Eager to review your T-shirt designs and tell the world about your great designs!”

What blog is about – T-shirt news, trends, coupons, contests and reviews.

Featured post – Smelly T-Shirts just might Spell L-O-V-E – “Participants take a plain white T-shirt, sleep in it for three consecutive nights.”

I started laughing when I read this post, but then, on second thought, I am curious a bit. I think I am going to need scientific proof of this. We have paid to find out how long it takes catsup to drip out of a bottle, so why not this? Why are scientists doing research on human pheromones and wasting money anyway? I think humans are way past the point of an animalistic joining by pheromones. Show me one person who would agree to choose their mate by smell alone. I can see the “young, single and adventurous crowd,” as they say, trying it at a party just to have some laughs, but I would like to see someone stay together because of smell alone. I see multiple showers a day in their future!Darla Lindauer

6. KK Cool Tools

By: Evan Donn wrote this post, but there are many contributors.

What blog is about – Any cool toy or product that can be reviewed.

Featured post – Kanger evod Electronic Cigarette – “Several months ago I tried my first electronic cigarette, and I haven’t smoked a real one since.”

I have heard so many people have started using an electronic cigarette instead of smoking. I have even seen stores go up around town, but I am not convinced it is better. It was said smoking was not bad for us. and we know that is not true now. I think the best thing for everyone is to just quit. I can say this, because I am going on five and a half months quitting after smoking since I was 16! No, I did not smoke during my pregnancies, but I started back up. It is hard! And the worst thing is, the cravings are not getting better, but worse! I have been telling everyone I am going to smoke again, but I haven’t yet. The only thing that has helped so far is I bought a pack of cigarettes last week, and I have not smoked them, but I can if I really want to. I now feel like I am in control of me quitting. The mind is weird. But if you are really considering going to the electronic cigarette, then this is a good review. – Darla Lindauer

7. RRRRRRRR_GIF

By: I cannot find the name of the one who posts on this site. I can only find where they refer to themselves as “rrrrrrrrolling gif maker.”

What blog is about – People and things that roll around

Featured post – May 2013 – This site has no writing, but in doing some research, I have found out that the site has been considered for some awards and was featured in a book, so it is worth a look.

Well, the site took me through a series of emotions. My first one was this is the most stupid idea for a site. I then proceeded to look through the pictures, and I started realizing a few things. 1. I can’t seem to stop looking at pictures. 2. These pictures are quite amazing really. 3. They are kind of creepy and make me feel like I am in the movie “The Ring,” which is a remake of the 1998 Japanese horror film, “Ringu,” so the animation in these photos resemble the movies. The movie is a horror film about anyone who watches this creepy video going around dies in three days and the main characters have to find a way to stop the cycle. Pretty sure this site does not do that to you. Ha-ha. Enjoy. Try not to get addicted, though I think I have already. Darla Lindauer
