Oklahoma City officials say these seven apartment complexes are among those that generate the most complaints to code enforcement inspectors. City records show owners were cited 203 times for code violations between 2008 and February 2013.
1420 NE 9 St.
Unoccupied. 18 code violations for problems including poor exterior maintenance, high grass and weeds, and unsecured buildings. As of Friday, owner Marilyn Long owed $7,623.17 in back property taxes and unpaid liens. Long said Friday that the property had been tied up in a lawsuit. She said she plans to clean it up, sell it or tear it down. “I'm going to continue to work hard to rehabilitate it, because I'm not a slum person,” Long said. “I don't want to see these buildings not being used. I want to see these buildings used for the community.”
3720 N Pennsylvania Ave.
Unoccupied. 30 code violations for problems including the building being unsecured. People have contacted the city complaining that transients set fires in the building. As of Friday, owner Kahkesh Properties LLC owed $6,979.07 in back property taxes and unpaid liens. Messages left by phone and at the residence in Edmond listed for Kahkesh Properties were not returned.
Courtyard Apartments, 3732 NW 23 St.
Occupied. 41 code violations for problems including poor exterior maintenance, graffiti, junk and debris, and yard and zoning issues. As of Friday, owner Courtyard Apartments LLC owed $22,805.30 in back property taxes and unpaid liens. Kimberly Weaks, who identified herself as the owner, declined to comment when contacted by The Oklahoman last month.
