— First-year defensive line coach Jerry Montgomery has received rave reviews so far. Here's what some of the OU defensive linemen and coaches are saying about the 33-year old.

Junior defensive end Geneo Grissom: “Man he's great. He's a student of the game, played the position so he definitely knows what he's talking about. The techniques that we're learning, great help. He's just an all-around good guy. Fun to play for. When we do good, he gets hyped, and that's a player's dream.”

Junior defensive tackle Torrea Peterson: “I think any time you're trying to accomplish some sort of goal, you want positivity to be the main focus. ... I agree you need tough love sometimes, but more so, positivity is what drives me. Positivity, you know, believe I can do these things, believe I can achieve what I want to achieve.”

Sophomore defensive end Charles Tapper: “He's taking his time with me and making sure I understand everything. Sometimes I would just sit back and think I knew stuff, but he's always quizzing you and asking questions and stuff like that.”

Defensive coordinator Mike Stoops: “He brings a certain newness to our defense and has been very well-schooled in his development as a young coach. He has been around some of the best d-line coaches out there. He may be young, but has a lot of experience and a lot of good ideas.”
