An Oklahoma City man was arrested after security guards at the Cox Convention Center found him taking a joyride around the Oklahoma City Barons' ice rink on a Zamboni machine, police said Monday.

Spencer Holt, 24, was arrested Saturday on complaints including unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, destruction of property and public drunkenness.

He has since been released from the Oklahoma County jail on bail, authorities said.

Holt could not be reached for comment Monday.

According to a police report, security guards for the convention center found Holt driving the Zamboni around the ice rink just before 10 p.m. Saturday.

He got stuck when he tried to drive off the ice and did not raise the machine's resurfacer.

A security officer told police he had to chase Holt around the machine after he confronted him.

The Zamboni and a gate apparently driven through to get onto the ice both were damaged.

The convention center was closed at the time.

The officer who arrested Holt reported he smelled alcohol on Holt's breath and noticed his speech was slurred.

Holt told police that an employee at the convention center told him he could drive the Zamboni.

He said he used to drive one for a living in Texas.

Both the Zamboni and the damaged gate are owned by the city.

A spokesman with SMG, the company that manages the convention center on the city's behalf, said the damage to the Zamboni was minor and was repaired by staff.

The damaged gate will have to be repaired or replaced before the next Barons home game May 13.

Officials could not say how much the repairs would cost. has disabled the comments for this article.
