Self-defense course planned

The Norman Police Department will present a free class titled “My Body … My Life … empowering women through awareness, education, violence prevention and self-defense techniques” on May 25 at the Norman Regional Hospital Education Facility, 901 N Porter Ave. The class will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. To register, call Sgt. Jennifer Newell at 366-5267 or email The class is open to the first 25 women, age 18 or older, who sign up.

Sam Noble welcomes mothers

The Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History will offer free admission to mothers Sunday in honor of Mother's Day, sponsored by Norman's Convention and Visitor Bureau. The museum at 2401 Chautauqua Ave. is open from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Jazz concert is planned

The Larry Hammett Trio will be featured at Sunday Jazz at the Depot at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at 200 S Jones Ave. Joining Hammett on guitar will be Dennis Borycki on keyboards and Mark Giammario on drums. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students. Light refreshments will be served.
