There are chances for thunderstorms in central Oklahoma Friday, the National Weather Service reports.

Sunny skies are ahead for the weekend and early next week. Temperatures Saturday and Sunday in Oklahoma City will be in the 70s with sunshine.

There is a 40 percent chance for rain Friday in Oklahoma City.

The Oklahoma City forecast is as follows:

Friday: A chance of thunderstorms before 7 a.m. then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 7 a.m. Areas of fog before 7 a.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy with a high near 76. North wind 13 to 17 mph with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.

Friday night: Partly cloudy with a low around 53. North wind 6 to 16 mph with gusts as high as 23 mph.

Saturday: Mostly sunny with a high near 75. North wind 8 to 15 mph with gusts as high as 21 mph.

Saturday night: Mostly clear with a low around 52. Northeast wind 6 to 11 mph.

Sunday: Mostly sunny with a high near 72. East wind 3 to 6 mph.

Sunday night: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy with a low around 53.

Monday: Sunny with a high near 81.

Monday night: Mostly clear with a low around 58.

Tuesday: Sunny with a high near 81.

Tuesday night: Partly cloudy with a low around 62.

Wednesday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny with a high near 84.
