Event: JDRF Central Oklahoma Hope Gala — Type 1 Diabetes Event.
Where: Renaissance Hotel/Cox Convention Center.
The evening: A black-tie event, the evening included a cocktail reception, dinner, entertainment, silent and live auctions and JDRF's signature Fund A Cure program, during which contributions were made to go directly to diabetes research.
Honored: Dan Boren, a former U.S. Representative, was honored for his help and support of the cause. The presentation was made by gala chairman Lisa Robertson.
Leaders: Lisa Robertson was co-chairman. Eric Johnson is president of the board of directors.
Event: Angels and Friends Party.
Where: Myriad Gardens Restaurant Space.

What: This 46th annual event traditionally takes place on the evening of the opening of the Festival of the Arts. Sponsored by the Arts Council of Oklahoma City, it is the Council's only fundraising party of the year. Food tastings were provided by a variety of local restaurants. Alegria Real played a blend of American and Caribbean music.

Event: Reception and Awards Ceremony of the Executive Service Corps of Central Oklahoma (ESSCO).
Where: Oklahoma City Community Foundation.
Presentations: The Center of Family Love in Okarche received the Harry Perry Award and Edmond Mobile Meals was given the first-time Bill Phillips Award, named for founding ESSCO Executive Director William J. Phillips.

Event: 104th Daughters of the American Revolution State Conference Banquet.
Where: Embassy Suites Hotel in Norman.
About: The theme was a Salute to Veterans. Speaker was Gen. Myles L. Deering. Pat McFall welcomed guests Judith Harlan Chaffin and Danna Spence Koelling, who were presented with Certificates of Appreciation for the role their fathers played in World War II. A musical program was performed the Oklahoma Army National Guard 145th Army Jazz Ensemble.
MAKING A DIFFERENCE
Event: OKC Metro Alliance, Inc., Annual Fundraising Luncheon.
Where: St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Christian Life Center.
Of note: The luncheon was a celebration of 40 years of service in the recovery community.
Mission: To provide hope, dignity and care for those choosing to recover from substance abuse.
Honored: Vinyard Fruit & Vegetable Company was given the Corporate Partner Award; the Community Volunteer Award was presented to the Gerald and Carolyn Johnston Family.
Event: Cupcakes and Cocktails.
Hosted By: Oklahoma Project Woman.
Where: Iron Starr restaurant.
Served: Cocktails, appetizers and cupcakes were served.
To benefit: Oklahoma Project Woman, which provides free mammograms, diagnostic procedures and surgical services for Oklahomans with no health insurance and limited financial resources.
