Help available for those with autoimmune disease Published: May 13, 2013

LAWTON -- Kara Spencer and Tina Smoley know how important support can be, particularly if you are suffering.

The Lawton Constitution reports that Spencer and Smoley, both of whom suffer with lupus, have a way to help themselves and help others.

Lupus is an autoimmune disease that can cause achy and swollen joints, skin rashes, swelling, pain, rashes and other debilitating symptoms, the newspaper reports.

Spencer formed the support group seven years ago.

Smoley also has the disease. She and others joined the group to share their experiences.

They discuss their situations, their concerns and how to cope.
