For the first time in history, Big 12 men’s basketball is ranked 1-2 in the weekly Associated Press and USA Today/ESPN Top 25 polls. Kansas and Texas occupy the top two spots in this week’s national rankings.

Kansas has been No. 1 since the preseason polls and Texas moved up from No. 3 after previously second-ranked Michigan State lost last week. KU and UT matched their highest rankings in school history. In its 13-year history, the Big 12 has now had multiple teams in the top five of the AP poll 42 times.

Texas A&M this week made its first Top-25 appearance of the season, while Oklahoma dropped out after losing twice last week in Anchorage, Alaska. Oklahoma State nearly cracked both polls and finished the equivalent of 26th in each.  Kansas State, Missouri and Texas Tech also received votes.

Here is how I voted this week:

1. Kansas; 2. Texas; 3. Purdue; 4. Duke; 5. West Virginia; 6. Villanova; 7. Syracuse; 8. Michigan State; 9. Kentucky; 10. North Carolina; 11. Ohio State; 12. Tennessee; 13. Gonzaga; 14. UConn; 15. Washington; 16. Texas A&M; 17. Clemson; 18. UNLV; 19. Louisville; 20. Georgetown; 21. Cincinnati; 22. Oklahoma State; 23. Florida; 24. Vanderbilt; 25. Butler.
