The soon to be Mutt's Amazing Hot Dogs. While I'm sure the hot dogs will live up to the name, hard to believe the transformation won't be even more amazing.

As lines continue to push out the door at Big Truck Tacos, the consistent question has been what’s next?

The answer is hot dogs.

Partners Chris Lower, Cally Johnson and Kathryn Mathis hope the magic they spun with tacos transfers to hot dogs when they open Mutt’s Amazing  Hot Dogs on April 1. Taking over an A-frame building at 1400 NW 23 St., just minutes from the Big Truck Tacos mothership, the place might look like an old Der Wienerschnitzel but it’s aiming much higher.

Lower said the menu, which the Taco Twins conceived, will offer gourmet hot dogs — including a selection of house-made franks.

“Cally and Kathryn purchased a five-pound sausage-stuffer earlier this week,” co-owner Chris Lower said.

Most of dogs will be in the $2 to $3 range, Lower said, but that they might occasionally do something like a lobster dog that could be up to $10.

“About the only thing we’ll have in common with other hot dogs is a long bun and encased meat,” Lower said.

Look for a Mutt’s Amazing Hot Dogs page later this week on Facebook.

So, what do you think? Is this the right move for Big Truck, let me know what you think.
