Chapter two of the Cafe 501 story began Sept. 27 with the opening of a new location. The longtime pillar of the Edmond restaurant community branched beyond its suburban borders to land in the chic, new Classen Curve development, joining Hal Smith’s Upper Crust, A Good Egg Dining Group’s Republic and 105degrees Cafe.

Cafe 501 is owned by longtime restaurant operators Peter and Sheree Holloway. The upscale soup, sandwich and salad standards are joined by wood-fired pizza in the new location.

The decor is chic and artful enough to meet the haute demands of its Classen Curve predecessors. The eye is immediately drawn to a multitude of iron dowel rods that hang from ceiling to booth tops, creating a maze of iron curtains that elicits more feelings of fashion than fascism. The dowels bask in the night lighting to create an ambience that wouldn’t be alien in the world Ridley Scott created for “Blade Runner.”
