OKC area Sikhs emphasize interfaith connections
Sabi Singh, a member of the metro area Sikh faith community, is proud of the interfaith connections that he and other local members of his faith have nourished here in Oklahoma.
In a recent story, I shared information about the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Sikh Gurdwara of Oklahoma building. The new house of worship is being constructed near the Sikh community current gurdwara at 4525 NW 16.
Sabi Singh said he wanted to make sure readers knew that the groundbreaking ceremony included people of several different faiths. He said this was an important aspect of the ceremony.
Since I did not share that information in my April 15 story, I asked Sabi Singh to send me
some pictures and a few more details about the event and I would pass this along to my readers.Sabi Singh said people who participated in the groundbreaking ceremony and the faiths they represented included the Rev. Jim Shields, Christianity; Neeraj Khanna, Hinduism; Asim Chohan, Islam; Carl Rubenstein, Judaism; and Puneet Singh, Sikhism.
